In honor of Dr. Seuss's Birthday, Manawa Elementary School will be celebrating with dress-up days during the week of March 2 - 6:
- Monday, March 2 - Read Across America Day: Wear a shirt from a city or state in America!
- Tuesday, March 3 - Thing 1 and Thing 2 Day: Grab a friend (or two, or three) and dress the same!
- Wednesday, March 4 - Fox in Socks Day: Wear the craziest socks you own!

Family Game Night
The Manawa Elementary PTO is sponsoring a Family Game Night on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Manawa Elementary School. All Manawa Elementary students and their families are invited to attend this fun night. A FREE meal, provided by the MES PTO, will be served from 5 - 6 pm in the commons. Pizza, lettuce salad, fruit and cookies will be served, along with milk, coffee and water.
A variety of games, including clasics to modern favorites, will be available from 6 - 8 pm in the gymnasium. Families planning to attend MUST return the registration form by March 5, 2015. Please complete one form per family.
Dr. Melanie Oppor and Mrs. Carmen O'Brien will have laptops available for students and parents to take a sample Badger Exam. The Badger Exam is the new state mandated exam for students in 3rd - 8th grades that replaces the WKCE Math and English tests that were previously administered. They will also be available to answer questions you may have about the new assessment.
Join the Manawa Elementary PTO
The money raised by the Manawa Elementary PTO and all of the events sponsoreed by the PTO would not be possible without the support and involvement of our families, MES staff and our area businesses. The Manawa Elementary PTO hopes to continue the PTO's efforts to enhance and enrich our students' education throughout the upcoming years. In order to accomplish this, it is imperative that more parents and staff step forward and be involved in the PTO. The PTO is in need of more representation at meetings and events, along with people willing to serve on the PTO board.
The next meeing for the Manawa Elementary PTO will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 3:15pm in the MES Library. Without additional participation, the PTO may no longer exist. Thousands of dollars and countless activities for our students could be lost. Please consider giving of your time to become a part of the Manawa PTO.

Looking for Washington DC Trip Sponsorship
The 7th and 8th grade students in Manawa are going to Washington D.C. this May for an educational based field trip. Here is where we need your help. We would like to give the 7th grader and 8th grader who improves the most on their state testing from last year to this year, a free trip. In order to do this, we would need to raise about $900 per trip. I am looking for people or businesses that would be willing to donate money in order to provide these two free trips. We believe this would be a great incentive to try and get students to work their hardest on their state tests. Improved tests scores will help improve our school report card. If you would like to donate money or have any questions, please contact Jeff Bortle via email at email@example.com, message him on facebook, or call him at the Manawa School District.
